PAT TESTINGPORTABLE APPLIANCES
We help employers comply with their legal requirements by providing a comprehensive and cost effective Portable Appliances Testing service.
We can also advise on a suitable inspection regime appropriate to the environment and duty for which your electrical equipment is used in the workplace.
PORTABLE APPLIANCES TESTING SERVICE (PAT)
We provide a combined inspection and testing service to help you identify faults which may arise in electrical equipment that may not be readily apparent. Faults may develop over time as a result of misuse or deterioration of internal electrical connections.
One way to identify such defects is through electrical testing using a portable appliance test instrument (also known as PAT tester)
What the law says
The UK Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) states at Regulation 4(1): “Every employer shall ensure that work equipment is so constructed or adopted as to be suitable for the purpose for which it is used or provided.”
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 states at Regulation 4(2): “As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent so far as reasonably practicable, such danger.”
This means that employers must ensure that all electrical work equipment is safe, suitable for the purpose and properly maintained in good order.
